LOVE ME was painted about 20 years ago. It was held in the back room at Julie Rico Gallery along with a few other paintings of mine When I went to pick up my paintings from her, she said she had given it away to a friend as a Valentine's Day gift. Never paid me. She claimed to have given it to Perry Farrell. Who knows... I haven't seen the painting since. If you ever see it, let me know....
Jelly Cabin This was one of my favorite paintings that I did for Joe Murray when we were working on the development for Camp Lazlo. He told me to do whatever I wanted with his sketches. Joe and I were big fans and collectors of kitsch 50s furniture and fabrics. I picked up some great 50s fabric on our travels and decided to design the look around those patterns. The colors and graphics were very simple and beautiful. I thought a yellow sky would be great with the comical nature of the show, and give the backgrounds the look of vignettes similar to 50s graphics.
This was one of the BGs of Lumpus' cabin used for the pilot.
Original painting from the Beastie Boys' Shadrach video directed by Chris Cassidy.
My first experience roto-scoping, and in be-tweening. I had no idea what I was doing, but I knew how to draw and paint. Animation was a foreign animal to me then. Worked with some great artists and got to meet the Beastie Boys. Even felt tiny ripples from the San Francisco earthquake while standing quietly and painting.
My paintings in the foreground with Marlon West painting next to me. He reminded me that we were lined up around the room in the order of the animation. Everyone had a different style. Very cool.
